How to schedule Threads posts (yes, Threads can do it now)

Yes, you can schedule posts on Threads, and you don't need another app to do it.

A lot of articles still say Threads has no scheduling. That was true for a while, and the internet hasn't caught up. Meta started testing scheduling in 2024, and in January 2025 Adam Mosseri announced on Threads that "you can now schedule posts on Threads."

I built a scheduler that supports Threads, so I have a stake in this. Still, here's the free way first, then the other options, then where a tool like Postminion actually helps.

How to schedule a post in the Threads app

These steps come from Instagram's official @creators account on Threads, which announced the feature:

1. Tap New post and write your post. Add photos, a video, or a poll as usual.
2. Tap the three-dot menu in the composer.
3. Tap Schedule.
4. Choose a date and time.
5. Tap Schedule again.

Your scheduled posts appear in your drafts folder. That's where you edit one or delete it if plans change.

When Meta first announced scheduling in August 2024, it said it was "bringing these features to web first." The steps above are for the app, so scheduling should be on both threads.com and the app now, though the buttons may sit in slightly different places.

What the native scheduler can and can't do

What Meta has said about it:

• You can schedule several posts a day, several days ahead. That's the wording in Meta's 2024 announcement.
• Meta hasn't published a maximum. I couldn't find an official limit on how far ahead you can schedule or how many posts you can queue. If you plan a month out, check that the date picker lets you.

And the normal Threads rules still apply to scheduled posts, per the Threads posting help page:

• Each post can have up to 500 characters. In the app, anything longer gets split into another post in the thread.
• In the app, you can attach up to 10 photos or videos to one post.

One thing that may catch you out: Threads' help center says drafts stay where you saved them. A draft saved on threads.com only shows up on threads.com, and one saved in the app only shows up in the app. Scheduled posts live in the drafts folder too, so if one seems to have vanished, check the device you scheduled it on. I haven't seen Meta say outright whether scheduled posts follow the same rule.

The bigger limit is the obvious one. Threads' scheduler posts to Threads. If you want the same post on Instagram, Facebook, or LinkedIn, you're doing it again somewhere else.

Can Meta Business Suite schedule Threads posts?

Partly. Meta Business Suite is Meta's free dashboard for Facebook and Instagram, and it now has some Threads support.

According to Meta's page on cross-posting to Facebook, Instagram and Threads:

• When you create a Facebook post or an Instagram post, you can add Threads as a destination.
• Reels and stories can't be cross-posted to Threads.
• Cross-posting to Threads only works on Business Suite desktop, not the mobile app.
• Your Threads profile has to be added to the same business portfolio as your Page and Instagram account.

Business Suite lets you schedule the Facebook or Instagram post. Meta's help page doesn't spell out how the Threads copy is timed when the original is scheduled, so check it on a test post before you depend on it. And it's not a Threads-first tool: you're starting from a Facebook or Instagram post and bringing Threads along.

If you mainly post to Threads, the app's own scheduler is simpler.

How to schedule Threads posts with Postminion

Postminion is a paid scheduler for Threads, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook, and LinkedIn. It's useful when a Threads post is one of several versions of the same thing.

1. Connect your Threads account. Postminion uses Threads' official login and never asks for your password.
2. Write your post. It can be text only, one image, one video, or a carousel of up to 20 images.
3. Select any other accounts you want it to go to.
4. Change the caption for each account if you want. Threads posts tend to read better short and conversational, so an Instagram caption full of hashtags is worth rewriting. The composer shows a character count against Threads' 500-character limit.
5. Pick a date, a time, and a time zone.
6. Schedule it. It shows up in the calendar next to everything else you've scheduled, and you can edit or cancel it before it goes out.

Where this saves real time is video. Upload a clip once and send it to Threads, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts in one go, with a different caption on each. That's the reason I built Postminion in the first place: I was spending an hour a day re-uploading the same video to five different apps.

What Postminion doesn't do on Threads:

• No multi-post threads. Each scheduled item is one post. If you want a chain of replies, write it in the Threads app.
• No polls, GIFs, topic tags, or location. Text, images, video, and carousels only.
• One video per post, up to 3 minutes and 500 MB, and you can't mix a video with images in the same post.
• No reply inbox or analytics. Analytics is coming soon. Replies still happen in Threads.

You can also hand the scheduling to an AI assistant. Postminion connects to Claude, ChatGPT, and other MCP clients, so you can ask one to draft and schedule a week of posts.

Which one should you use?

If you only post on Threads, use the scheduler in the Threads app. It's free, and it's right there.

If you run a Facebook Page and Instagram account through Business Suite and want Threads to tag along on feed posts, try its cross-posting on desktop.

If Threads is one of four or five places your content goes, try Postminion free for 7 days.
