Postminion vs Hootsuite: an honest comparison for 2026

I built Postminion, so I'm biased. I'll try to make up for it by being specific.

Here's the thing about this comparison. Hootsuite and Postminion both schedule posts, but they're not really the same kind of product. Hootsuite is a social media suite built for marketing teams. Postminion is a scheduler for people who want to upload once and post everywhere.

That changes the question from "which is better" to "which one are you actually shopping for".

The short version

Pick Hootsuite if you're a team that needs more than scheduling: a shared inbox for comments and DMs, social listening, competitor benchmarking, reports for clients or your boss, and approval workflows. Also pick Hootsuite if you post to X, Pinterest, or Bluesky, or you need LinkedIn company pages.

Pick Postminion if you're one person (or one person doing the posting for a small business), and you mostly need to publish the same content to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Threads, Facebook, and personal LinkedIn. Hootsuite starts at $99 per user per month, billed annually. Postminion starts at $8 a month.

I checked every number here on September 28, 2026, against Hootsuite's plans page, Hootsuite's help center, and Postminion's pricing. Prices change, so check both before you pay.

Pricing: per user vs flat

Hootsuite charges per user (per seat). The prices on its plans page are per user per month, billed annually. Hootsuite doesn't publish its monthly billing prices on that page. It only says annual billing gets you "a lower per-user monthly rate".

Postminion charges a flat price per plan based on how many social accounts you connect. Every plan has every feature.

One person with 10 accounts, both paying yearly:

• Hootsuite Standard: $99 × 12 = $1,188 a year
• Postminion Pro: $165 a year

That's the gap. For a solo creator or a small shop, it's the whole story.

For a team it's different, and I have to be honest here: Postminion doesn't have team seats yet. One Postminion account is one login. If three people need their own logins, approvals, and a shared inbox, Postminion can't do that today, and Hootsuite can.

Neither has a free plan. Hootsuite retired its free plan in 2023. Its 14-day free trial doesn't ask for a credit card, which is nicer than most. Postminion has a 7-day free trial: $0 today, and no charge if you cancel within 7 days.

Platforms and formats

Hootsuite covers more networks, and it can publish regular YouTube videos, not just Shorts. Postminion is built for short-form video: one video per post, up to 3 minutes and 500 MB.

Both have things the platform APIs won't let them do. Hootsuite's help center says some Instagram posts, like Creator account posts and Reels with closed captions, go through a mobile notification that you finish in the Instagram app. Neither tool can add trending audio or stickers for you.

Where Hootsuite is ahead

A lot of places. Hootsuite has been building since 2008.

• Inbox. One inbox for comments and messages on every plan, with automated replies from Professional up. Postminion doesn't handle comments or DMs.
• Analytics and reports. Post and multi-network reports on every plan, plus competitor benchmarking (5 competitors on Standard, 20 on Professional and Advanced). Postminion doesn't have analytics yet. It's coming soon.
• Social listening. Basic search and trends on every plan, and full listening on Enterprise.
• Teams. Approval workflows and internal comments from Advanced up. Postminion has no team features yet.
• Planning tools. Recommended posting times, bulk scheduling, templates, an AI assistant, and iOS and Android apps. Postminion has none of these today.
• More networks, and long-form YouTube.

If your job title has "social media manager" in it and a company is paying, Hootsuite was built for you. Postminion wasn't.

Where Postminion is ahead

• Price. For one person, a Postminion plan costs a fraction of one Hootsuite seat. See the numbers above.
• Published monthly pricing. You can pay Postminion month to month at the price on the page. Hootsuite's public prices are annual.
• Less to learn. Postminion is a scheduler and a calendar. That's it. When I started building it, my complaint about existing tools was that they cost too much or had too many features I never used. Hootsuite is the extreme version of "a lot of features". That's great if you use them and expensive if you don't.
• Multiple accounts per network, no seat maths. Connect any mix of accounts up to your plan's limit, such as three Instagram accounts and two TikToks. You're not paying for anything beyond that.

Both connect to AI assistants now. Postminion works with Claude, ChatGPT, or any client that supports MCP (Model Context Protocol, the standard AI assistants use to connect to other apps). You choose what the assistant can do and can revoke access anytime. Hootsuite's plans page lists MCP connectors as part of its Wisdom AI features too. Call that one even.

So which one should you use?

Use Hootsuite if:

• A team needs to share the work, with approvals and separate logins.
• You need inbox, listening, or reporting, not just publishing.
• You post to X, Pinterest, Bluesky, or LinkedIn company pages, or you upload long YouTube videos.
• The budget is a company budget.

Use Postminion if:

• You're a creator, freelancer, or small business owner doing your own posting.
• You mostly publish the same content to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Threads, Facebook, and personal LinkedIn.
• $99 a month for scheduling makes you wince.

If you need a suite, get the suite. If you just need your posts to go out on time, try Postminion free for 7 days.
