Postminion vs Later: an honest comparison for 2026

Full disclosure: I built Postminion. So yes, I have a horse in this race.

Later is one of the tools I looked at before I started building my own. It's a good product, especially if Instagram is the centre of your world. But its pricing works differently from what most people expect, and that's where most of this comparison ends up.

The short version

Pick Later if you want a link-in-bio page, analytics, best-time-to-post suggestions, and an AI caption writer in the same tool. Also pick Later if you post to Pinterest or Snapchat, or you want a free plan to start with.

Pick Postminion if you want unlimited posts and a flat account limit that you can split however you like, for example three Instagram accounts and one TikTok. Postminion costs $8 a month for up to 8 accounts, and there's no monthly post cap.

I checked every number here on September 28, 2026, against Later's pricing page, Later's help center, and Postminion's pricing. Prices change, so check both before you pay.

Pricing: social sets and post caps vs flat

Later's paid plans are built around social sets. A social set is one profile from each network Later supports: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads, and Snapchat. Each plan also caps how many posts you can schedule per profile per month.

Postminion's plans are just a number of connected accounts, split however you want, with unlimited posts.

Later's monthly billing costs more than the yearly prices above. Its pricing page advertises 25% off for paying yearly.

Two things are easy to miss here.

The post cap. Later Starter allows 30 posts per profile per month. That's about one post a day on each network. Later's help center also says posts count when they're scheduled, not when they're published. If you post twice a day, or you batch a lot of content ahead of time, you'll hit that cap. Postminion doesn't cap posts on any plan.

One of each network. A social set holds one profile per network. If you run two Instagram accounts, the second one needs a second social set, and Later Starter can't add extra sets. That means moving up to Growth. On Postminion, two Instagram accounts are just two of your 8 accounts on Starter.

In Later's favour: Later has a free plan and Postminion doesn't. It isn't on the pricing page, but Later's help center describes a Free plan for creators with limited scheduling, a link-in-bio page, and basic analytics. If you only post occasionally, that might be enough.

Trials work differently too. Later's paid plans have a 14-day free trial. It needs a credit card and turns into a paid plan automatically unless you cancel. Later's help center also says its plans are non-refundable. Postminion has a 7-day free trial: $0 today, and no charge if you cancel within 7 days. If you're charged and it's not the right fit, you can email us within 7 days of the charge to ask for a refund.

Platforms and formats

So Later wins on Pinterest, Snapchat, and LinkedIn company pages. Postminion wins on multi-image posts for personal LinkedIn profiles. Neither posts to X or Bluesky, and neither does long-form YouTube.

On Instagram, both run into the same wall: trending audio, stickers, and polls aren't available through Instagram's API, so neither tool can add them for you. Postminion is built for short-form video: one video per post, up to 3 minutes and 500 MB.

Where Later is ahead

• Link in bio. Later's Linkin.bio page is on every plan, including Free. Postminion doesn't have a link-in-bio page.
• Analytics. 3 months of history on Starter, 1 year on Growth, 2 years on Scale. Postminion doesn't have analytics yet. It's coming soon.
• Best time to post. Suggestions for Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok on every plan. Postminion doesn't suggest times.
• AI captions. A caption writer that runs on monthly credits (5 on Starter, 50 on Growth, 100 on Scale). Postminion doesn't write captions for you.
• Teams and inbox. Approvals and a social inbox for DMs and comments from Growth up. Postminion has neither.
• Mobile apps for iOS and Android. Postminion doesn't have one yet.
• Influencer marketing. Later also sells Later Influence, a separate product for brands running creator campaigns. Different league.

Where Postminion is ahead

• No post cap. Unlimited posts on every plan, compared with 30 or 180 per profile per month on Later Starter and Growth.
• Accounts, not sets. Connect any mix of accounts up to your limit, including several accounts on the same network, without upgrading.
• Price. $8 a month (or $88 a year) for up to 8 accounts, compared with $18.75 a month billed yearly for one Later social set.
• Same features on every plan. Postminion plans differ only in how many accounts you can connect and how fast support answers.

I'm not going to pretend Postminion does more than Later. It doesn't. When I started building it, my complaint about existing schedulers was that they either cost too much or had too many features I never used. Postminion does the "upload once, post everywhere" part, and that's the part I needed.

Postminion also works with AI assistants. You can connect Claude, ChatGPT, or any client that supports MCP (Model Context Protocol, the standard AI assistants use to connect to other apps), and choose exactly what it's allowed to draft, schedule, or publish. I couldn't find an equivalent on Later's pricing page, so if that matters to you, it's worth asking them directly.

So which one should you use?

Use Later if:

• Instagram is your main channel and you want link in bio, analytics, and best-time suggestions in one place today.
• You post to Pinterest, Snapchat, or a LinkedIn company page.
• You post about once a day per network or less, so the post cap doesn't bite.
• You want to start on a free plan.

Use Postminion if:

• You post a lot, or you batch weeks of content at once, and don't want to count posts.
• You run more than one account on the same network.
• You want the cheapest way to post the same short-form content to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Threads, Facebook, and personal LinkedIn.

If Later fits, use Later. If you'd rather not count posts or buy another social set for a second Instagram account, try Postminion free for 7 days.

FAQ

Does Later limit how many posts you can schedule?

Yes. Later Starter allows 30 posts per profile per month and Growth allows 180. Scale is unlimited. Posts count when they're scheduled, not when they're published. Postminion has unlimited posts on every plan.

Can I connect two Instagram accounts on Later Starter?

Not on one Starter plan. A Later social set includes one profile per network, and Starter includes one social set with no add-ons. Postminion Starter lets you connect up to 8 accounts in any mix, including several on the same network.

Does Later still support X (Twitter)?

No. Later ended support for X in August 2025. Postminion doesn't post to X either.

Does Postminion have a link-in-bio page like Later's Linkin.bio?

No. Postminion focuses on scheduling and publishing. If link in bio is important to you, Later includes it on every plan, including Free.
