Postminion vs Metricool: an honest comparison for 2026

Postminion vs Metricool compared on brand-based pricing, free plan limits, networks, and analytics, by Postminion's founder. Who should pick which, with real numbers.

Quick disclaimer: I built Postminion. Weigh everything below with that in mind, and check the sources I link.

Metricool leads with analytics. It's in the name. Scheduling is a big part of it too, but the reports, competitor tracking, and dashboards are what it's known for. Postminion is the opposite: a scheduler first, with analytics still on the way.

The other big difference is how they count what you pay for. That one surprised me, so most of this post is about it.

The short version

Pick Metricool if you want analytics and reports today, a shared inbox for comments and messages, or a free plan that can actually publish. Also pick Metricool if you post to X, Pinterest, Bluesky, or Google Business Profile, need LinkedIn company pages or long YouTube videos, or you're an agency managing lots of clients with several networks each.

Pick Postminion if you run more than one account on the same network, like two Instagram accounts, or you just want the cheapest paid way to schedule to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Threads, Facebook, and personal LinkedIn. Postminion starts at $8 a month. Metricool's cheapest paid plan is $25 a month, or $20 a month billed yearly.

I checked every Metricool number on September 29, 2026, against Metricool's pricing page, Metricool's help center, and Postminion's pricing. Prices change, so check both pages before you pay.

Pricing: brands vs accounts

Metricool charges by the brand. A brand is one business, client, or project, and it holds one profile per network: one Instagram, one Facebook Page, one TikTok, one YouTube channel, and so on. You can't put two Instagram accounts in the same brand. The second one needs a second brand.

Postminion charges by the account. Your plan is a number of connected accounts, and you split them across networks however you like.

PlanPriceWhat you get
Metricool Free$01 brand, 20 posts per month, 30 days of analytics, no LinkedIn or X, 1 user
Metricool Starter$25/month for up to 5 brands, $45/month for up to 10. Billed yearly: $20 and $36 a month.Unlimited posts (fair use), LinkedIn, PDF and PPT reports, unlimited analytics history, link in bio, 1 user
Metricool Advanced$67, $107, or $210/month for up to 15, 25, or 50 brands. Billed yearly: $53, $85, or $159 a month.Everything in Starter, plus unlimited team members, roles, post approvals, Looker Studio, and the API
Metricool CustomContact salesMore than 50 brands, white label, account manager
Postminion Starter$8/month or $88/yearUp to 8 accounts, unlimited posts
Postminion Pro$15/month or $165/yearUp to 15 accounts, unlimited posts
Postminion Premium$50/month or $550/yearUp to 50 accounts, unlimited posts, priority support

Metricool's prices exclude VAT, and it also lists prices in euros. X (Twitter) is a paid add-on on top of any paid plan: $10 a month per X account.

Because the two tools count differently, the fairest way to compare them is with real setups. All prices below are monthly billing.

Your setupMetricoolPostminion
One creator: 1 account each on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, and Facebook$0 on Free, if 20 posts a month is enough. Otherwise $25 (Starter).$8 (Starter)
Same creator, plus a personal LinkedIn$25 (Starter). LinkedIn needs a paid plan.$8 (Starter)
2 Instagram accounts and 2 TikToks$25 (Starter). That's 2 brands.$8 (Starter)
10 clients, each with Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok (30 accounts)$45 (Starter, 10 brands, 1 user)$50 (Premium)
25 clients on 4 networks each (100 accounts)$107 (Advanced, 25 brands)Not possible. Postminion tops out at 50 accounts.

I worked these out myself from the prices on Metricool's pricing page and its definition of a brand.

On yearly billing, the small setups look like this: Metricool Starter is $20 a month, so $240 a year by my maths. Postminion Starter is $88 a year.

So the pattern is clear, and it cuts both ways.

For one person with a handful of accounts, Postminion is cheaper, and much cheaper if two of those accounts are on the same network.

For an agency with many clients, each on several networks, Metricool's brand pricing is better value. A brand holds one profile on every network Metricool supports for the price of one slot, and Postminion counts each of those profiles as an account. I'm not going to pretend otherwise.

Metricool has a free plan, and Postminion doesn't. Metricool Free never expires and doesn't need a credit card. It includes 1 brand, 20 posts a month, 30 days of analytics (with a watermark), and the inbox. It leaves out LinkedIn, X, report downloads, and link in bio. For a creator posting a few times a week, that could be enough, and I'd rather you know that.

On post caps: Metricool's paid plans are unlimited, subject to a fair use policy that triggers a manual review above 600 posts per brand per month. Postminion has unlimited posts on every plan.

Trying before paying works differently too. Metricool's route is the Free plan. If you buy a paid plan, its refund policy gives you 15 days to withdraw from your first purchase, but renewals aren't refundable. Postminion has a 7-day free trial: $0 today, and no charge if you cancel within 7 days.

A few format details from Metricool's help center:

  • Instagram. Metricool auto-publishes posts, Reels, and Stories. Stories with links or stickers, and carousels with videos over 60 seconds, go out through a phone notification that you finish in Instagram. You can add audio to Reels from Metricool's library, tag collaborators, products, and locations, and add a first comment to feed posts. Postminion can't do any of those.
  • YouTube. Metricool publishes both regular videos and Shorts, with files up to 500 MB. Postminion is Shorts only.
  • TikTok. Metricool supports personal and business accounts, and business accounts can add songs from TikTok's top 100 trending list.

Postminion is built for short-form video: one video per post, up to 3 minutes and 500 MB. For the details per network, see the Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Threads, Facebook, and LinkedIn pages.

Where Metricool is ahead

Lots of places. This is a mature product.

  • Analytics. This is Metricool's home turf. 30 days of history on Free and unlimited on paid plans, Reels and Stories analytics, competitor tracking (5 profiles on Free, 100 on paid), PDF and PPT reports, and a Looker Studio connector on Advanced. Postminion doesn't have analytics yet. It's coming soon.
  • Inbox. Read and reply to comments and messages in one place, even on Free: Facebook and Instagram comments and DMs, TikTok comments, YouTube comments, LinkedIn comments, and Google Business Profile reviews. Postminion doesn't handle comments or messages.
  • Best times to post, on every plan. Postminion doesn't suggest times.
  • Planning extras. CSV import for batch scheduling, autolists, a post library, Canva and Google Drive integrations on paid plans, and recurring posts on Advanced. Postminion has none of these.
  • Link in bio. SmartLinks on paid plans. Postminion doesn't have a link-in-bio page.
  • AI. An AI writing assistant with monthly credits: 5 per brand on Free, 20 on Starter, 35 on Advanced. Postminion doesn't write captions.
  • Automations. Metricool's Flows can turn comments into DMs and auto-reply by keyword, currently at no extra cost on paid plans.
  • Teams. Advanced includes unlimited team members, custom roles, and post approvals. Postminion is one user per account.
  • Mobile app for iOS and Android. Postminion doesn't have one yet.
  • More networks, long-form YouTube, and LinkedIn company pages.

If you report on social media to a boss or a client every month, Metricool will save you real time. Postminion can't help with that part yet.

Where Postminion is ahead

  • Several accounts on one network. Two Instagram accounts on Postminion are 2 of your 8 Starter accounts. On Metricool, they're two brands, which means leaving the Free plan.
  • Price for small setups. $8 a month against $25 for Metricool Starter, or $88 a year against $240 on yearly billing.
  • Personal LinkedIn on every plan. Metricool only connects LinkedIn on paid plans.
  • Less to learn. When I started building Postminion, my problem with existing schedulers was simple: they cost too much or had too many features I didn't use. Metricool is priced fairly for what it does, but it does a lot. If you just want to upload a video once and send it everywhere, a smaller tool gets you there faster.

On AI assistants, it's a draw. Postminion connects to Claude, ChatGPT, or any client that supports MCP (Model Context Protocol, the standard AI assistants use to connect to other apps), on every plan. You choose what the assistant can do and can revoke access anytime. Metricool's MCP works on every plan too, including Free.

So which one should you use?

Use Metricool if:

  • You need analytics, reports, or competitor tracking now.
  • You want one inbox for comments and messages.
  • You're happy on a free plan with 20 posts a month and one account per network.
  • You manage many clients, each with several networks.
  • You post to X, Pinterest, Bluesky, Google Business Profile, or a LinkedIn company page, or you upload long YouTube videos.

Use Postminion if:

  • You run more than one account on the same network.
  • You want a cheap paid scheduler for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Threads, Facebook, and personal LinkedIn.
  • You care about getting posts out on time more than about dashboards.

Shopping around more widely? I also wrote up some Buffer alternatives, and a comparison with Publer, which prices by the account.

FAQ

Is Metricool free?

Yes. Metricool Free doesn't expire and doesn't need a credit card. It includes 1 brand, 20 posts a month, 30 days of analytics, and the inbox, but not LinkedIn or X. Postminion doesn't have a free plan. It has a 7-day free trial.

What is a brand in Metricool?

A brand is a container for one business or client. It holds one profile per network, such as one Instagram account, one Facebook Page, and one TikTok. Metricool's plans are priced by how many brands you need, so two accounts on the same network need two brands.

Is Postminion cheaper than Metricool?

For individuals and small businesses, usually yes. Postminion Starter is $8 a month for up to 8 accounts, and Metricool Starter is $25 a month ($20 billed yearly). For agencies with many clients on several networks each, Metricool can work out cheaper, because one brand covers every network for that client.

Can I post to LinkedIn on Metricool's free plan?

No. LinkedIn needs a paid Metricool plan. Postminion supports personal LinkedIn profiles on every plan, but not company pages.

Does Postminion have analytics like Metricool?

Not yet. Analytics is coming soon to Postminion. If reporting is the main reason you're buying a tool, Metricool is the better choice today.
